Monet to Picasso

Enjoying some panini outside of the Museum.
Where's Penny? Oh, she's around here somewhere.

The Utah Museum of Fine Art currently has a fabulous exhibit on loan from the Cleveland Museum of Art. We decided to take advantage of the opportunity to see some famous art and it didn't disappoint. We packed Penny in the stroller and she slept through the impressionists. She started waking up for the Rodin exhibit and seemed mildly interested, and then WHAM! she was wide awake for Picasso. That's my girl.

Unlike Penny, I really like the Impressionists and Van Gogh and I actually learned a lot from the audio tour. Picasso's "La Vie" was definitely the standout of the exhibit, but Penny gazed for a while at "Harlequin with Violin." I wish we could have taken pictures inside the exhibit, but photography was not allowed. Which, come on, really? I can take pictures inside the MOMA but not here? Oh well.

But here's why I want to foster in Penny of love of art. Because my parents did it for me. Here's a pic of me as a little one:

My folks put postcards of great art on the wall by my crib. So I made sure to stop at the gift store to pick up some for Penny before we left the museum. And wait? Is that a record player by my bed? Sweet!

What a cute picture of baby Kate! Gotta love that '70s wood paneling, too. :D

You look so young in that picture! And even younger in the baby picture of you.
