Labor Day

Wow, those Teamsters sure know how to throw a Labor Day celebration. The past two years, we've driven out to BFE to hang out with Britt's "brothers," eat some grub, and to try to win a nice TV. This year was a lot more fun because we have a little one, and because we also went with Britt's actual brother and his family.

Also, there's nothing sweeter than watching big burly teamsters play with their kids on a nice Saturday afternoon. We didn't win the TV this year, but we did win a gift certificate to Chili's! Woo! I want my baby back baby back baby back....

The festivities included many things that Penny is too little to do (like Tug of War and a Horseshoe Tournament), but they did have a mini petting zoo, which was pretty cute...and a little sad because I think the old and infirm animals are relegated to the mini petting zoo. But this baby llama liked Penny well enough:

And Penny seemed mildly amused by this baby goat:

Not to get all soap-boxy, but Labor Day is an important reminder that hard working people have fought and died for fair wages, hours, and safe(r) working conditions. We like that we don't have to work on weekends and that Penny won't have to start working in the mines soon. It was also interesting to see which local politicians were out courting the Union vote...

Next year, that TV is ours!

AW! Oh my gosh, you have a cute baby. And baby llamas aren't so bad. Someone we know was selling a full grown llama for $60 once and we nearly bought one. Wouldn't that have been great? I could have been a llama owner. But we didn't.

Wow, $60 seems like a great deal for a llama!
